Covering the East Timorese President's killing attempts; an aftermath
1:46 PM
In 2008, I went to East Timorese to cover the aftermath of the killing attempt of their president Jose Ramos-Horta. He was shot by rebel East Timorese troops as he returned to his official residence on the beach outside Dili.
The mutineers were led by Major Alfredo Reinado, who was killed in the gunbattle with the president's bodyguard.
An hour later other soldiers loyal to Reinado attacked the convoy of the country's prime minister, Xanana Gusmao, 61, who escaped unhurt.
A "HIGHLY protected" Australian Federal Police ballistics report shows that one of Timorese President Jose Ramos Horta's personal guards, who claims he shot dead the rebel leader Major Alfredo Reinado, could not have done so.

Some leaders of the rebel soldiers involved in the attacks eventually gave themselves up after evading a manhunt by elite Australian peacekeeping troops, but others remain at large.
Ramos-Horta appealed for calm in his fledgling Asian nation in the hope that it can put the violence of recent years behind it to achieve a degree of much-needed stability.
"My message to my people is please forgo violence and hatred with weapons, machetes, with arson - we only destroy each other and the country," he said.

A "HIGHLY protected" Australian Federal Police ballistics report shows that one of Timorese President Jose Ramos Horta's personal guards, who claims he shot dead the rebel leader Major Alfredo Reinado, could not have done so.
The AFP report finds Dr Ramos Horta was shot with 5.56mm NATO bullets.
While there was minor fragmentation, the bullets largely stayed intact in his body.
The bullets that killed Reinado were different to the one bullet that killed Leopoldino, but both types fragmented inside their bodies.
Experts test-fired all the guns supposedly used (or not used) by the rebels and the President's guard, including Marcal's FNC Minimi.

Filming for Vice Indonesia with Ario Bayu
9:17 PM
Vice has been the talk of many of my friends, they admire how Vice telling the story, the packaging and all. Just weeks ago one of my ex producer contacted me saying that there's a potential client but she didn't mention it in the first place that it was going to be Vice Indonesia.
I think it was D-2 I asked who the client would be and she answered it was Vice Indonesia, they just started in Indonesia and they wanted to film few episodes as the start. So I agreed, went to their office do some recce and flew to Yogyakarta last week with another cameraman Laga, soundman Mr. Ikbal our Sifu, Ario Bayu (one of Indonesian actor) as the host and local driver Mr. Fredy (not Mercury).
We went to few places like the traditional market (was), Yogya art show, museum, Mexican diner, and the amazing Sate Klathak Pak Pong (really, you should try!)
I didn't have much time to film more behind the scenes but here's a short video how we discuss and decide what to film and all. Enjoy!
And thanks to Vice Indonesia and all the crew!

Almost all of my work involves traveling, around Jakarta and around Indonesia. And I'm sure Bali is one of the most visited city by me. I'm not a coffee geek but I just love to drink it. I always try to find a good place to drink coffee each time I travel. One of the place is Helo Cafe by Bapak Bakery in Denpasar city, it's owned by one of my friend and I like to drink coffee and catching up with him. I recommend this place, it's not a big cafe but you can sit there quietly and work on your stuffs or read a book while sippin' a cup of coffee.
Few months ago I visited this place again and I made a short video about it with my friends, watch the video here:
Beberapa bulan lalu saya kembali berkunjung kesana dan saya sempatkan membuat video singkat bersama teman-teman saya, tonton videonya disini:
Mereka menyediakan internet gratis dan juga ada gitar, coba Anda kalau ketemu pemiliknya ajak aja duet pakai gitar nyanyiin lagu Dream Theater atau Steve Vai atau bahkan lagu-lagu Mr.Big.
